What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Assistant – Seven Positions, Central Office; position at Mental Health, Office of?
Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services, such as the NYS CSEA Partnership (NYS CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program*; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of appropriate technical courses at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license is preferred, but not required, for these positions.
The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill seven Maintenance Assistant positions. These are temporary/hourly positions in the Bureau of Environmental Design and Improvement located in the Central New York area. Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to the following:
Perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance, repair, installation, and construction tasks in one or more of the trades including, carpentry, painting, minor electrical, masonry/tilework, and flooring.
Work under the direction of a field supervisor and follow written and verbal instructions.
Possess working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in trades to which assigned.
Perform moderate to heavy manual labor.
May climb ladders and work at heights on scaffolds and platforms, and in confined spaces.
Demonstrate the ability to adhere to OSHA safety standards.
Travel within assigned region to multiple OMH facilities.
Candidates are not eligible for reimbursement of travel costs.
