DENTAL ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION / DUTIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Dental Assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. Although state regulations vary, responsibilities may include :

All Essential Duties and responsibilities of a Dental Assistant

Schedule appointments and assist in appointment confirmation calls. Train and Educate the Dental Assistants on job responsibilities.

Assist in training other dental assistants on how to set-up treatment rooms; equip and stock practice inventory

Take and record patient’s medical and dental histories and vital signs, blood pressure & pulse, medical alerts, and signed consent forms, and x-rays.

Effectively present to patient the dental treatment plan and proposed plan for continuing treatments in professional and confidential manner

Lab Cases- Responsible for lab case tracking, maintain logs, documentation, and communication with patients

Monitor Doctor schedule / Patient Flow / Cycle Time Daily

Daily / Hourly Communication with the Office Manager - Concerning Patient’s, Doctor, Schedule, Dental Assistants, Equipment, or other issue with the office.

Qualifications (Experience, Education, License, Certification)

1-2 years dental assisting experience preferred

Meet state requirements for Dental Assistant duties, continuing education or license; Basic Life Support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, and radiography certificate.
