What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Conservator Inventory Specialist position at Merced County?
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Two (2) years of experience in general clerical, clerical accounting, typing, or stenographic work at a level comparable to the Account Clerk II level. One (1) year of college or business school training may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: INCUMBENTS MUST BE ABLE TO BE BONDED. FAILURE TO MAINTAIN BONDED STATUS WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE TERMINATION.Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Knowledge of:
Ability to:
- Securing of property by cleaning out client apartment or house, searching and packing all belongings and furniture, inventorying and placing the contents in a storage facility.
- Calculates storage costs and submits monthly billings to case worker.
- Disposes of property by mailing, shipping or personal delivery to heirs or family, selling, or taking to disposal site.
- Organizes and conducts public auction or accepts bids, organizes showing.
- Collects payments, computes breakdown of the sale including gross sales, commissions, and net amount due to client for each item sold.
- Enters data into client inventory and provides information to case worker.
- Secures residences, searching and securing monies and valuables.
- Boards up windows, installs door and window locks.
- Assists with searches and locating of next of kin to establish identity of decedents.
- Assists the Probate referee with appraisals and serving court papers.
- Prepares ads for auctions and other sales.
