Position Description
Reporting to the Operations Manager – Projects, the Project Manager will be the specialist for mass timber projects that are produced in our Spokane Valley facility. The Project Manager will oversee mass timber projects from the engineering and fabrication design stages through to project delivery. As a member of the Mercer Mass Timber group, you will define the scope of work for mass timber at early design stages, optimizing projects for the best use of mass timber. This position is based at our Mass Timber facility in Spokane Valley, Washington. The Project Manager will be within commuting distance of the factory and will need to travel to project sites approximately 20% of the time.

Position Description

Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of assigned projects, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and taking full responsibility for their successful execution.
- Coordinate effectively with Engineering, Fabrication Design, Manufacturing, and Construction teams to ensure alignment and collaboration across all phases of the project.
- Estimate and establish budgets, contract prices (GMP/Lump Sum), and negotiate change orders with General Contractors/Owners and MMT subcontractors/vendors.
- Maintain cost control ledger, job cost statements, and ensure timely billing/lien waivers for payment from General Contractors/Owners.
- Solicit, write, and negotiate cost-effective subcontract and material purchases.
- Coordinate project schedules using MS Project or other scheduling software, ensuring projects remain on schedule.
- Develop and maintain relationships with General Contractors, Owners, Architects, Engineers of Record, and Subcontractors.
- Assist in project pre construction efforts and ensure pre construction deliverables (LOD300, 350, 400, Single Piece Shops, Assembly Drawings, & Truck Loading Plans) are being completed in accordance with the project schedule.
- Organize and lead regular management and subcontractor meetings.
- Supervise, train, and support Project Engineers and clerical staff.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reporting to management, ensuring projects are completed with full or enhanced fee, or provide feedback for improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the construction of Mass Timber Structures and manufacturing (Glulam and CLT) or related manufacturing or construction fields.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Construction Management, or have over 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience as a Preconstruction Manager, Construction Manager or a similar role in the commercial/industrial manufacturing industry.
- Strong proficiency in construction cost estimating, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Proficient in construction management and scheduling software (e.g., Bluebeam, Primavera 6, MS Project, Procore, etc.).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Resilience, ability, and desire to mentor, lead and grow the Mercer Mass Timber team.
- Strong problem-solving ability and strong sense of urgency.
- Basic understanding of contract law and project accounting.
- The salary for this position is $90,000 – $115,000 USD. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
