Description
Within Value Chain Management (VCM), the Product Manager will work under the direction of the Value Chain Leader and will support Product Leaders as assigned. The Product Manager may also be directly responsible for a product or portfolio of products. VCM is accountable for our Manufacturing Division product strategy in alignment with our Manufacturing Division and GHH brand/franchise goals as well as for leading continuous improvement of the product supply chain. Product scope includes new and in-line products within specific Customer Business Lines (Diversified Brands, Biologics, Primary Care, Women’s Health, Oncology, Immunology, Hospital & Specialty, or Vaccines).
VCM work is strategic by definition, spanning the entire life cycle of products, stabilizing the ongoing business through appropriate risk management, and designing the supply chain for the future. The position is highly integrative and requires project management skills to prioritize and drive results. The role also requires team building skills as well as exceptional strength in communications and in developing or leveraging data analytical tools and translating fact-based output into supply chain strategy. Key areas of responsibility include: project management, product management, risk management, strategic inventory management; percentage of time in these areas will vary based on business needs.
Primary activities:
Support a Value Chain Leader or Product Leader in end-to-end value chain management in the long term time horizon and the objective of establishing the strategic direction and key areas of focus for assigned products
Support development of Product Master Plans which define comprehensive global product strategies, including lifecycle management and/or lead the development of product master plans for assigned portfolio.
Project manage the priorities from the product master plans that drive portfolio/network value creation opportunities to maximize brand assets.
Supports the supply chain design teams for new products including drug substance, drug product, and packaging source decisions. Supports or leads the supply chain working group (sub-team of IDST). Project manages launch preparation and execution for new products.
Supports or lead Value Chain Management Teams (VCMT) composed of cross functional representation from end-to-end functions including Commercial, Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, Technical Operations, Finance, Procurement, Logistics, External Manufacturing, and other related groups as appropriate
May lead or support End to End Product Risk Assessment for assigned products or supply nodes including risk assessments, identification & prioritization of mitigation strategies, development of recommendations and alignment of sponsorship to execute.
Engage in resolution of global product disruptions where long-term strategic supply chain alternatives need to be established: Develops and implements action plans with appropriate escalation and sponsorship.
Education Minimum Requirement:
BA/BS Required (Engineering, Operations Research, Science, or Supply Chain Management) with a minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience.
Master’s Degree (MBA) Preferred with a minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience
Required Experience and Skills:
Project Management skills or certification preferred.
Expansive cross functional skills and business/management/operations experience, knowledge of the functions that support the business including: Supply Chain, Finance, Regulatory, Quality, Compliance, Manufacturing Operations and Commercial Operations
Strategic thinking and ability to assimilate highly complicated and multi-factored inputs and outputs to develop an integrated strategy. Develop communication strategies to simplify complex data analysis into clear visualizations.
Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions and influence direction in ambiguous situations
Proactive mindset and ability to look outside the assigned role with an eagerness to identify and engage in opportunities to improve value chains and related business processes within the organization
Cross functional/cross divisional project management skills with geographically diverse teams
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Knowledge of “best practices” in Supply Chain Management
Knowledge/Experience in analytic tools such as Spotfire, SAP, Power BI or other Office 365 Tools, QLIK, MiniTab or similar
Knowledge/Experience in basic coding skills, such as R or Python, as well as, experience in building probabilistic models.
Lean Six Sigma Certification
Experience in leading cross functional teams or initiatives
International experience
Multi-sector industry experience
Skilled in effectively managing virtual teams and have ability to influence both horizontally and vertically
Drive to engage others and have excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
Be able to maintain focus on the key project goals and priorities, but also be able to dive into the detail to facilitate problem resolution and ensure project success
