VICE PRESIDENT, LABORATORY SERVICES | REMOTE WITHIN MARKET
This role is responsible for setting the strategic direction and providing leadership of enterprise-wide lab operations and outreach. This position will focus lab safety, outcomes and metrics to support enterprise-wide KPIs. This position will drive adoption and identification of best practices, increase standardization, reduce costs and drive quality performance across the hospital and outpatient labs. This position will operate in a matrix reporting structure being accountable to system leadership while driving results through market and hospital leadership teams.

Essential Job Functions
- Sets the strategic direction for laboratory operations, organizational structure and key laboratory priorities across the enterprise.
- Ensures cross-functional and cross-market collaboration is a priority to meet the needs of operations and to ensure the operational requirements of internal customers and stakeholders are met
- Communicates performance, with executive leadership on a regular basis while consistently delivering clear communications regarding priorities and initiatives to various audience levels on an ongoing and proactive basis
- Analyzes business and industry trends, evolving technology and best practices to proactively identify emerging opportunities
- Functions as a change agent through process improvement opportunities, leadership and strategic vision while creating standards for operational excellence.
- Responsible for financial management and performance of laboratory operations across the system. Accountable for budget planning, performance to budget and capital expenditures and requests.
- Identifies opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings, as well as consolidation and integration of lab operations across markets and system-wide
- Streamlines and optimizes methods and processes to ensure operations occur in an efficient manner while ensuring other factors such as risk and business continuity are addressed
- Provides leadership and development of Laboratory teams and leaders, makes decisions, solves problems while ensuring a strong laboratory leadership pipeline for succession planning opportunities
- Is knowledgeable about Laboratory Information Systems and integration with EMR systems to ensure optimal laboratory operations.
- Ensures efficient and effective utilization supply chain contracts and operations. Evaluates products and processes necessary to support evolving business needs.
- Continuously assesses current organization structures to support operational excellence. Leads and supports system wide projects and mobilizes resources and support for priorities.
- Develops operating plans with financial, operational metrics and quality outcomes
- Oversees human resources metrics, including retention and recruitment plans while continuously evaluating lab operations to ensure optimal performance and efficiencies
- Optimizes profitability of lab outreach business, evaluating and implementing business improvements.
- Provides leadership and direction for labs in standardization and selection of testing platforms
- Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies within all inpatient and outpatient laboratory sites
- Implements test utilization improvements and formulary recommendations to reduce overall cost per admission
Required
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
- Masters in Healthcare, Business or related field
- 10 years operational and executive leadership experience in multi-site health system.
Preferred
- 5 years executive leadership in Laboratory service line
- EPIC HER and/or Sunquest LIS experience
- Clinical laboratory experience/knowledge
Hard/Tech/Clinical Skills:
- Working knowledge of LIS systems
