Mercy Ships is seeking a Medical Demand Planner to oversee the ongoing development and function of the medical supplies for the Africa Mercy Ships Health Care System.
What you’ll contribute:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Oversee the maintenance of the master Medical Needs List including disposables and equipment.
- Review weekly/monthly usage of medical supply adjusting shipments to meet that anticipated needs based on usage levels.
- Facilitate bi-weekly procurement calls with Africa Mercy (AFM) program staff. Address and document any expressed concerns. Maintain oversight of the Hospital Request tracking form which documents shortages or abnormal usage level/supply level issues.
- Liaise with the Africa Mercy Supply Manager to identify monthly product shipping plans (monthly pick list) from the European Distribution Center (EDC) and International Support Center (ISC).
- Coordinate with point of service personnel and program managers to develop standardized medical supplies list, based as much as possible on per patient utilization.
- Review, recommend, and approve any product changes or additions utilizing appropriate consultants and program managers (vendor changes may be approved by procurement department).
- Communicate regular updates to Health Care Services Director, Procurement Manager, and Hospital Coordinator-AFM regarding status of supplies.
- Liaise with Procurement Coordinators regarding the acquisition of medical supplies.
- Oversee the correct description/distribution for medical supplies in the Supply Chain Management System.

For this role, you’ll need:
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook while willing to learn the procurement database.
- May require occasional domestic and international travel.

- Understand and apply servant leadership, work collaboratively with integrity and demonstrate accountability.
Education and Experience
- Administrative experience helpful.
- Medical experience preferred.
- Working knowledge or Mercy ships and Hospital Programs preferred.
- Experience working with people and organizational systems. International experience is a plus.
- BS/BA in related discipline preferred. High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
