Overview:
This coworker will process Birth Certificates Daily and submit to the State.
Assisting with daily calls requesting Release of Information, ensuring the retrieval of all paper light charts from the nursing floors each day, assist physicians and mid level providers with EPIC in basket (incomplete charts). Assembly of paper light charts, scanning, indexing and quality checking of the scanned images, primary telephone coverage, inventory and ordering of supplies for the department. Completion of Labor and Delivery (fact sheets) for Birth Certificate completion. Completion of paternity affidavits (when applicable), entering birth certificate information into E-RAVE, notarizes appropriate required documents for the HIM Department, Tracking and mailing PKU results, processing monthly Arkansas Medicaid Case Review Charts, mailing copies of information to physicians who are copied on medical reports, processes and distributes mail daily. Works daily uncoded report, completes monthly state health reports, loads Papervision CD's into papervision system. Works assigned analysis queue daily and assigns deficiencies to providers to ensure that charts are completed timely, receives and promptly works duplicate medical record number report and expired patient report thus ensuring the accuracy of the Master Patient Index for the Mercy Clinics and the Hospitals. Routinely reviews and monitors privacy reports (snooper reports) to ensure that co-workers for the Mercy Fort Smith Communities are following privacy and electronic health record guidelines/policies to assist the Privacy Officer.
Qualifications:
- Education: Must possess a high school diploma, basic computer knowledge, and knowledge of alphabetic and numeric filing systems.
- Experience: Previous experience in physician's office, Health Information Department, or related hospital field preferred.
- Other:
- Must possess the ability to concentrate for long periods of time and the ability to remain alert for in-depth review.
- Must be able to pay attention to minute details and able to organize large volumes of paper and records.
- Must be able to recognize forms used in patient records.
- Must have the ability to remember accreditation agency standards as well as Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and hospital policies.
- Strong Typing Skills preferred.
