The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting providers with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks.
Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; warmly greeting and accompanying patients to exam / procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians / nurses with various procedures; charting; relaying instructions to patient/families.

Overview:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting providers with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks.

Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of one year work experience in a public contact job.
- Certifications: Must maintain CPR certification
- Knowledge: Knowledge of health care field and medical specialties. Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
- Special Skills: CPR, EKG and Blood Pressure skills; basic computer knowledge; communication skills. Skill in performing assistance tasks appropriately. Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions. Skill in understanding of patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
- Abilities: Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures. Ability to project a pleasant and professional image. Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks. Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
- Preferred Education: Completion of MA or CNA training program consisting of classroom and clinical training.
- Preferred Experience: Prior direct patient care experience.
- Preferred Certifications: Credentialed as a CMA, RMA or CCMA or other approved MA credential.
- Preferred Other: Experience with EPIC
