What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Assistant - Mercy Clinic Eye Care - St. Louis position at Mercy?
The Optometric Assistant helps in preparing the patient to see the ophthalmologist. Responsible for taking ocular, medical, and family history, chief complaint, completes visual acuity, refraction, OCT, visual fields and other testing as necessary. Use knowledge of contact lenses to assist patients in ordering contacts teaching patients how to insert and remove contacts. Proficient with EHR to document pre-test findings, telephone calls, and patient messages. Assist with general office duties such as answering the phone, scheduling appointments, greeting customers, pulling authorizations and filing insurance.

Qualifications:
Education:High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Entry level position. Will consider on the job training. Must have good patient service, computer and math skills. Preferred to have 1-2 years of optical, optometry, or ophthalmology experience.
