Overview:

Certified Pharmacy technician is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in all dispensing functions. The technician is under the direct supervision of the pharmacist who provides input to the manager of the pharmacy evaluating their job performance. They must carry out their duties in compliance with all applicable policies and regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy as it relates to technicians as well as all policies and procedures of Mercy.  In addition, the Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the manager with assigned administrative duties.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required

Licensure: Requires valid Pharmacy Technician License to be registered with Missouri State Board of Pharmacy and in good standing.

Certification/Registration: current certification through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Experience: Must stay current with continuing education requirements for certification and must have at least 6 months pharmacy experience at Mercy or at least 2 years pharmacy technician experience.

Other skills & knowledge:  Must be able to exhibit a higher command of job skills and be willing to train other technicians in applicable areas (if hired in as a Senior Technician, must strive to get higher command of job skills and be willing to train other technicians in applicable area). Must have all medications and preparations checked by a registered pharmacist before it is dispensed.
