What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at Mercy?
This is a part-time benefit eligible position!
This position is located at Washington, MO
Schedule: 8 AM - 1 PM, Monday - Friday
.Overview:
- The purpose of this position is to provide appropriate first aid and quality ancillary health care to students and staff.
- Perform initial assessment and treatment of students and staff within nursing scope.
- Maintain infection control and safety standards in the workplace.
- Keep accurate records of all treatment and services provided and maintain strict confidentiality of medical records.
- Provide health education to promote wellness and preventative health care.
- Act as a consultant to administration in regards to school community health and well-being.
Qualifications:
Education: Registered Nurse
Experience: 1 years of clinical experience in patient setting
Licensure: Current Missouri RN license
Certification: BLS Current Certification
Other:
Remain calm in crisis situations and follow protocols as required.
Work well with individuals of diverse cultures and especially well with children and adolescents.
Working knowledge of developmental stages of early to late adolescence.
Detail oriented and communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
Work with members of the Student Life Team as part of a comprehensive counseling team.
Good interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, parents and staff.
Perform duties without direct supervision
Identify areas of need and work collaboratively to develop solutions.
Demonstrate effective and creative problem solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: BSN
- Experience: 3 years of clinical experience and 1 year of experience in a pediatric patient care setting, Experience in a school setting
