Overview:
Under the direction of the Director of Quality, the Infection Prevention Lead will participate in the implementation, review and support of the facility infection prevention plan. They will support the Infection Preventionists in their work with patient care teams to achieve high quality and the best possible outcomes. The Lead will serve as a subject matter expert in infection prevention.
The Infection Preventionist Lead will collaborate with leadership, coworkers and medical staff to develop, implement, improve, monitor and champion processes related to key infection control strategies. They will help to formulate and put into practice infection preventions strategies to decrease infection risks to patient. They will collaborate with hospital and ministry leadership to develop and implement strategic plans, projects, and initiatives to decrease hospital acquired infections.
The Infection Prevention Lead will perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3 years clinical healthcare related experience
- Education: Bachelor's of Science in Nursing
- Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
- Preferred Education: Masters of Science (healthcare or public health related)
- Preferred Certifications: National certification in Infection Prevention (CIC) or equivalent
- Other: Proven leadership ability and knowledge of complex hospital and healthcare systems, processes and quality/performance improvement. Knowledge of the internet, evidence-based medicine, analytical skills and good clinical inquiry and investigational aptitude. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
