Overview:
The Utilization and Appeals Management Liaison is primarily responsible for obtaining and finalizing payor authorizations for accounts under the Mercy UM scope so that claims can be submitted timely and with accurate authorization information. This remote position serves as the liaison between Mercy Utilization Management, Payors and 3rd Party Vendors. The Liaison will also be available to assist with denial and retrospective UM authorization functions.

Qualifications:
- Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent certification
- Preferred Experience: Three years related healthcare experience in Revenue Cycle, Utilization Management, Health Information Management, Auditing or Patient Accounting experience.
- Other Skills & Knowledge:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills to effectively work with others involved in the Utilization and Appeals Management process
- Must possess the ability to prioritize, delegate, and organize various tasks/projects simultaneously to ensure departmental and Mercy-wide goals are met
- Possesses integrity, imagination and initiative as evidenced by self-improvement
- Demonstrates personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, understanding, integrity, interest and respect for others
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
- Ability to stay current on changing governmental and payor regulations related to authorization/certification processes
- High proficiency in computer applications and ability to fully utilize automation to achieve departmental goals
- Creative, results-oriented, well organized, task-driven, self-starter with high energy level, and ability to influence others
- Ability to work independently to accomplish and carry out goals/objectives in a collaborative manner
