What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen Assistant position at Meredith Manor?
--Overview--
Meredith Manor hosts special events--mostly weddings and receptions--on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays only with a typical shift being from 1230 pm to 1120 pm. We may have a maximum of three events per weekend, April through December.
Our staff receives a digital copy of the schedule for the season and sign up for the events they want to work by emailing our manager/owner Miriam Reitz. Mimi assigns shifts based on a "first signed up, first put on" system excluding training. Every Monday she emails staff letting them know who is working that weekend.

Kitchen Assistants do food prep, dish washing, cleaning, bussing server stations, and moving tables / chairs.
Kitchen Assistants work under the supervision of one chef and two managers. All food is pre-ordered and put together with an assembly line of staff; this includes first course selections (fruit, salad, soup) and main course selections (entrees). The only exception is food allergies / dietary needs, which will be assigned to one Kitchen Assistant per shift to specially plate and label.
Kitchen Assistants may work together or independently depending on their assignment. Two assistants must work at a time on the dish machine to keep dirty / clean dishes separate.
We utilize ear piece walkie-talkies to communicate. Servers will call for bussing to their stations using walkie-talkies, and Kitchen Assistants use carts to bus bins of dirty dishes to the kitchen.
Hand trucks and carts are used for the majority of lifting, but Kitchen Assistants must be able to stack chairs, move tables, and run trays / pans of food.
--Requirements--
-must be 16 years of age or older (please have working papers if needed)
-must provide uniform black dress pants, plain black t-shirt (short or long-sleeved), and black sneakers
-must keep hair pulled back, facial piercings / dangly earrings removed, and nails kept short in length
-must present themselves professionally in front of guests
-must sign up for a minimum of four shifts a month
