Job Summary:
The Fiber Technician: This position plays an integral role in the telecommunication industry – keeping us connected through telephone, high-speed internet, and television. Must install and maintain fiber optic cables, as well as provide technical assistance in the designing and testing of fiber optics. Able to troubleshoot and utilize professional knowledge to make decisions confidently. Proficient in understanding the various electronic components and computer operating systems involved.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Resolve, repair, and install fiber optics systems, ensuring that they work properly.
Install fiber splice enclosures, test, and troubleshoot fiber and copper, OSP/ISP fiber termination, test categories 5 & 6 cable, and dress MDF/IDF.
Examine and replace faulty and/or old fiber optic cables.
Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas.
Execute premises cabling and take care of the underground and underwater cabling requirements.
Maintain system records and system designs.
Maintain fiber equipment and tools, company vehicles, and enforce a safe working environment.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required. College preferred.
3 year’s knowledge and experience with splicing fiber, both loose tube and ribbon, as well as high count fiber
In depth knowledge of industry testing and ability to read and interpret tests
Knowledge of industry testing equipment – OTDR, OLTS, Fluke, etc.
Awareness of basic networking and Wi-Fi technology is strongly preferred.
Valid Driver’s License.
OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30
Physical Requirements:
Up to 80% travel to out of state job sites.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
