GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Shipping Clerk (SCL) at Freedom plays a crucial role in the smooth and efficient operation of a warehouse by overseeing the administrative processes for shipping and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of goods to customers. This position involves handling various administrative tasks, coordinating with internal teams and external carriers, and maintaining proper documentation to facilitate the shipping and tracking of products. The SCL will supply the shipping department with all necessary documentation in an expedient manner and provide support to the shipping staff as needed. Will process ASN’s, billing, carton labels, shipping labels, FedEx labels, etc.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Answer e-mails and provide support to meet the requirements of customers and transportation
vendors.
- Enter shipping requests and other pertinent data into the computer system.
- Must be able to file accurately all documents as assigned.
- Maintain accurate information on an Excel spreadsheet for tracking finished good orders.
- Advise carriers of pending requests for pick up and follow through to ensure pick-up is executed.
- Perform all other administrative tasks as assigned, including but not limited to word processing, data entry, filing, etc.
- Must be proficient in math to include fractions conversations, decimals, degrees and basic math is a must.
- Contacts transportation company to set up pick-up and delivery.
- Generates carton labels for shipping.
- Generates shipping labels for cartons.
- Creates packing lists and BOL’s for shipments.
- Provides dims and detailed pallet and case configurations for scheduled pick-up requests.
- Documentation and Record-keeping -maintains detailed records of all shipping activities, including tracking numbers, delivery confirmation, and shipping related issues or exceptions.
- Generates spread sheets as needed for inventory.
- Answers customer service and Sales department questions
- Collaborates with Manufacturing, Production, Customer Service, Project Management and Quality with intra company shipping requests.
- Processes chep pallets through the chep pallet portal.
- Must be able to work extended hours during month end to ensure all activity is processed in the system.
- Performs all other functions as directed by Warehouse Supervisor.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a customer service role, shipping, or equivalent. Previous experience in a shipping or distribution environment a plus
- Positive attitude and excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
- Ability to work with strong sense of urgency and self-motivation.
- Superb problem-solving skills along with the ability to “think outside the box” to streamline tasks and processes necessary to support customer and production needs.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma with 3 to 5 years of warehouse experience.
Must be computer literate and understand various software’s to include excel, windows, ERP systems and other key computer data information.
