THE OPPORTUNITY
Meridian Adhesives Group, a leading adhesives and specialty materials company, is seeking a Production Supervisor (2nd Shift) to lead the daily production of their new manufacturing facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The production supervisor is responsible for overseeing manufacturing processes by supervising staff on the production floor and coordinating resources to complete the daily / weekly production schedule in accordance with all safety protocols. These duties include but are not limited to:
- Monitoring output levels at different points in the production process and shifting duty assignments as necessary to complete the daily / weekly production goals.
- Produces and delivers products by planning, organizing, and evaluating the manufacturing, engineering, and labor functions within budget and on time.
- Supports manufacturing objectives by establishing strategic production planning, analyzing production schedules, current inventories, and production methods.
- Trains and supervises employees.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment by developing good housekeeping standards and practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day production operations and reports to the Site Operations Leader. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Knows, understands, communicates, and facilitates a safe work culture, ensuring compliance with all company safety/environmental and housekeeping policies.
- Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for orders being filled.
- Maintains manufacturing metric results by defining, delivering, and supporting manufacturing systems and enforcing on time production as scheduled.
- Completes production plan by establishing priorities, scheduling activities, and issuing batch schedules to all batch makers and plant personnel as needed to coincide with daily production.
- Monitor production progress, revise schedules, resolve issues affecting plant priorities and communicate with plant leadership as needed.
- Inspects work areas to ensure operational performance and utilization.
- Monitors employee performance to assure that quality and production standards are met and assists in completing performance reviews.
- Assures that employees are trained to adequately perform assigned tasks.
- Builds and maintains morale in the workforce and maintains a good attitude with fellow workers and management to enhance morale.
- Coordinating employees’ activities, assigning daily duties, and overseeing break and lunch policies are being followed.
- Maintain acceptable customer quality standards, take necessary corrective action to improve when needed.
HOUSEKEEPING
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Ensures cleanliness of facilities and equipment by developing routine housekeeping practices and maintenance programs.
- Organizes, trains, and directs employees in maintaining facility and equipment cleanliness.
- Safety
- Maintain a safe working environment by following the “Safety Rules and Guidelines” and the “Code of Safe Practices” as defined in the “Employee Safety Handbook”, and by Company policy.
- Results and Expectations:
- Identifies potential fire and safety hazards by inspecting current and proposed facilities, machinery, equipment, tools, and personnel practices.
- Identifies actual fire and safety hazards and unsafe practices by investigating accidents and near-accidents.
- Guides and promotes safe work performance by enforcing safety policies; implements safety campaigns; trains supervisors and employees in safe practices.
- Eliminates or minimizes hazardous situations by developing and recommending safety policies and procedures; designs building controls; installs safety devices on machinery; directs use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Complies with federal, state, and local safety regulations by interpreting standards; enforces adherence to regulations; advises management on needed actions.
- Promotes a safe work environment by coordinating and cooperating with local, state, and regional safety groups and agencies.
- Provides training and development of personnel.
- Prepares and reports to management all safety violations, as well as all incidents of workers compensation impacted accidents or injuries.
- Publishes and distributes safety meeting minutes to appropriate management staff.
OTHER DUTIES
- Participates in physical inventories and cycle counting.
- Contributes to team effort, i.e. assisting in any area required, etc.
- Participate in safety, loss control, accident, incident and rework investigations, as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Assists with platform production in the absence of the Compounders or alternates.
- Assists with special assignments and projects as needed or required.
- Liaisons with other departments as needed
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- 1 to 3 years of experience in production manufacturing supervision
- Current Forklift certification training
- Strong analytical ability skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and make proper decisions
- Gives directions for assigned tasks
- Mechanical aptitude with practical application skills
- Ability to perform basic math and computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Ability to supervise fill line operators, material handlers, and temporary labor as required
