JOB SUMMARY: Works under the directive of the Plant Manager, and Food Safety Manager, supervising shift operations, providing direction and training to the team, achieving production and quality goals, promoting safety, and providing assistance on the floor, as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Have knowledge of each department's procedures and functions.
2. Ensure responsible areas are prepared for the next work assignment, i.e. set-ups completed, pre-production checklists completed, material staged, WO packets ready, etc., so that there is no lost production.
3. Ensure proper procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices are being followed for production efficiency, quality of product, employee safety, and state and federal guidelines.
4. Support management with the implementation of new policies and procedures, and direct team members to ensure conformance.
5. Ensure the safety of the work area through monitoring, observation, and reporting of potential safety hazards, as well as suggesting and implementing safety improvements.
6. Inspect products to verify compliance with specifications.
7. Will receive HACCP training and certification and participate on the company HACCP team.
8. Participate in problem-solving and recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
9. Train and instruct employees regarding production and equipment standards and processes. Oversee instruction, implementation, and enforcement of policies as they relate to employees.
10. Coach, mentor, and develop team members to encourage and support a high-performance work culture.
11. Ensure personnel are fully compliant with all training requirements before being assigned to perform work in any area.
12. Identify issues related to production output, quality, equipment, and safety and report to management.
13. Train employees as needed.
SKILLS:
1. Proficiency in MS Software (including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
2. Ability to drive team productivity while maintaining high levels of quality, employee engagement, and morale.
3. Leadership and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to teach and coach individuals from diverse backgrounds with varying communication and technical skills. Must be able to adapt to and coach others in an ever-changing environment.
4. Analytical skills with problem-solving and process improvement orientation.
5. Ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, and seek to understand the goals of the company and its management.
6. Must be challenged by a team-based environment that places a high degree of emphasis on accountability, inventory management, efficiency, quality, and GMP compliance.
7. Must be able to work with off-shifts, carry a cell phone, and work weekends when necessary.
8. Employee will be expected to attend safety training, serve on the facility safety committee, and participate in hazard analysis and resolution.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE:
1. High school diploma
2. Minimum 2 years of production experience
