Peer Support Specialist

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

These positions typically work within normal business hours, 8:30am - 4:30pm.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

• Participate in weekly treatment team to report on client progress in recovery and readiness to engage in goals indicated by the treatment plan.
• Develop recovery support services within the clinical and supportive programs including 12 Step Focused Recovery groups.
• Teach personal care/self-help, substance abuse recover and relapse preventions skills, as indicated in treatment plan.
• Teach parenting skills, prenatal instruction, and postnatal instruction. Introduce healthy lifestyle skills including nutrition of mom and baby.
• Collaborate with medical team and other treatment team members involved in client care.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

• High School Diploma or GED
• Knowledge of Substance Abuse and Mental Health and Recovery
• Must maintain support certification from the Ohio Mental Health and Recovery Board within six (6) months of hire
