Estimator Trainee Little Rock, AR : 72202 Salary : $55,000.00 to $65,000.00

Must-Haves :

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a transferable technical field.
• 3 years of related experience in the steel industry.
• Familiarity with steel fabrication processes, techniques, and advanced knowledge of construction elements (welding and constructability).
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex design documents and specifications.
• Experience with Excel and preliminary connection design.

Job Description :

The ideal candidate will be responsible for appropriately evaluating the cost of a project and determining the cost to undertake that project.

They will be familiar with our competitive advantages as an organization and effectively communicate those during the bidding process.

Responsibilities :

• Producing cost estimates and proposals for structural steel bid projects and cost estimates for change orders on awarded projects.
• Developing, implementing, participating in, and monitoring a plan for completing a material and labor take-off from structural and architectural design drawings.
• Taking responsibility for complex projects and routinely functioning as the estimate team leader.
• Reviewing and verifying completeness and distributing project drawings and specifications to estimators assigned to the project.
• Maintaining and managing well-developed subcontractor / supplier relationships.
• Obtaining pricing for specialty items not contained in the estimating software database.
• Generating estimate summaries and cost recap sheets in Excel.
• Developing preliminary connection design based on member capacities and loads provided.
• Working with the Production Department to review and update estimating standards.
• Working overtime when required to meet bid dates.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a transferable technical field.
• 3 years of related experience in the steel industry.
• Ability to manage time well and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Works well with a team.
• Experience with Excel and preliminary connection design.
