SUMMARY

Pulls parts for mechanical assembly, and maintains parts locations within the facility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  1. Working knowledge of mechanical processes.
  2. High organizational and prioritizing skills to meet deadlines.
  3. Ability to read blueprints efficiently and accurately.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to determine the parts to be pulled.
  • Loads and unloads parts onto, or from, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Conveys parts from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Uses hand truck, pallet jack, forklift, or crane to move parts.
  • Places identifying tags or labels to parts.
  • Notifies Expediter of parts shortages, or other problems.
  • Completes and scans work orders accurately for each job.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Functions in a workplace of dignity and respect for all.
  • Functions as a team member and to get along with others.
  • Honors EEO guidelines and principles.
  • Reports for work on time as scheduled and ready to perform.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as directed, assigned or necessary to accomplish the department’s objective in an effective manner.

SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Accountable for all concerns within their scope of work and has the absolute responsibility to remedy, report and/or communicate any issue to managers, supervisors, safety or environmental managers as appropriate.
  • Follows all safe work practices, watches out for fellow workers, and keeps their work area clean. 
  • Ensures area remains compliant regarding hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste and universal waste.
  • The following personal protection equipment is required and must be worn while working in the manufacturing facility or customers’ facilities: 
  1. Company approved safety glasses or goggles
  2. Company approved steel/composite toe shoes.
  3. Appropriate hand protection, respiratory and hearing protection in designated areas.
  4. Appropriate clothing and other safety equipment as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None required.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or one to three months related experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts using basic math skills.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE SKILLS: Visual Scanning System
  • EQUIPMENT: Crane, forklift, pallet jacks, computer and other general office equipment.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None required.

  • The employee must frequently (34-67%) lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must occasionally (1-33%) sit, crouch, climb, crawl and balance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, vibration and risk of electrical shock.
  • Depending on the season, the employee is constantly exposed to cold or hot, humid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is generally loud, so hearing protection is recommended. Depending on the shop location, employees may be required to wear hearing protection.
