Job Summary:
As a Concrete Finisher with Merritt Contracting, you play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and durability of our concrete work. Your responsibilities include the skilled finishing, smoothing, and setting of freshly poured concrete. You will be part of a team dedicated to delivering the highest standard of concrete work, including slabs, curbs, and sidewalks, while adhering to safety guidelines and project specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Concrete Finishing: Skillfully finish concrete surfaces, including but not limited to floors, sidewalks, curbs, and stairs, ensuring they meet or exceed industry standards and client specifications.
- Formwork Setup: Set up and install the necessary formwork, molds, and expansion joints prior to concrete pouring.
- Surface Preparation: Clean, patch, and repair surfaces to be concreted, ensuring proper bonding and finish.
- Concrete Pouring: Assist in pouring concrete and work closely with the concrete crew to achieve the desired finish.
- Smoothing and Leveling: Utilize hand tools, power trowels, and other equipment to smooth and level the surface and ensure uniformity.
- Curing and Sealing: Apply curing compounds and sealers to protect and enhance the concrete's integrity and appearance.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections to identify and address any defects or imperfections, maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
- Project Collaboration: Coordinate and collaborate with other team members, including concrete crew and supervisors, to achieve project goals efficiently.
- Cleanup and Maintenance: Ensure a clean and organized work area by removing debris and equipment and maintaining tools and equipment.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Proven Experience: A minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a Concrete Finisher, demonstrating expertise in finishing concrete surfaces effectively.
- Concrete Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of concrete construction procedures, techniques, equipment, and best practices.
- Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to safety in a construction environment, including knowledge of safety guidelines and regulations.
- Team Player: The ability to work effectively within a team, fostering collaboration among crew members and other stakeholders.
