Counselor

MERS Goodwill is looking for passionate, high-energy individual to join our MWA team. The position is full-time weekdays, has excellent benefits, will serve participants in MWA program and provide counseling directed at resolving issues prevented to self-sufficiency. This position will travel to deliver counseling services in the office, home, or locations as needed to meet client needs. Service Delivery areas are Scott, Stoddard, Mississippi.

Primary Duties Include:

• Perform formal and informal assessment of consumers to reveal strengths, weakness, desires, and barriers to self-sufficiency.
• Provide individual counseling directed at the active resolution of issues that prevent self-sufficiency.
• Establish and maintain professional/confidential/ethical/helpful relationship with consumers, agency personnel and external partners.
• Enter case notes and update the Individual Service Plan within the data system to document services and track progress toward goals.
• Advocate and make referrals. Work with a diverse population with a wide variety of challenges preventing them and their families from being self-sufficient.
• Travel over several county areas routinely to deliver counseling services M-F, 8-5 in the office, home or other location as needed to meet client needs.
• Work independently.
• Spend approximately 50% of time seeing clients out of the office.
• Provide crisis intervention.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree required; and experience in a social service field required as providing direct services to clients. 2 Experience servicing a diverse population in a social service setting preferred.
• LPC, LCSW, LSW preferred.
• Requires excellent listening, critical thinking, intervention and problem-solving skills.
• Valid drivers license, current auto insurance, and independent transportation required
