CONSTRUCTION COORDINATOR
PURPOSE:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support for the program/project or operation. This position will work closely with other divisions and corporate functions including HR, Safety, Finance and Accounting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for project document control and supporting the creation of bid packages, contract administration, SCE, or other customer Portal entries, obtain insurance for awarded projects, and facilitate turnover of documentation for awarded projects to the operations department
- Monitors overall quantity and quality of work performed on all assigned work duties
- Create and maintain frequent Executive level reports for the tracking of jobs being estimated, awarded and performed
- Provides support to field operations as needed; e.g. obtain insurance, fully execute contracts, and facilitate the turnover of documentation needed to expeditiously start work on the project and set-up the job into Spectrum
- Participates in resolving difficult issues or start-up problems
- Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Promotes safety among peers, subordinates and supervisors
- Responsible for the proper and prompt handover of projects to the Accounting department for insertion into Spectrum
EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent required
- A 4-year business degree preferred but not required
- Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience in similar type construction environment required or equivalent.
- Experience with the SCE, or other Utility Company Portal a plus
- Demonstrated experience working with construction personnel and projects
- Demonstrated experience in understanding contracts to ensure compliance with terms and protect the company’s rights in lien and collection matters
SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, planning and analytical skills required
- Must possess a combination of skills including an ability to ask penetrating questions, detect unstated assumptions and resolve interpersonal conflicts as well as more systematic management skills
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit for prolong periods
- The employee is frequently required to use hands to fingers, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle, required. Will be required to submit to a Motor Vehicle report
Working conditions consists of temperature-controlled buildings or offices, outside elements such as rain, cold, and heat when working with in open environments, driving from various locations or attending meetings, etc. Noise levels are moderate to loud depending on work location.
