What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Technician/Drafter position at Mesa Natural Gas Solutions?
The primary responsibility of the CAD Technician/Drafter is to support the development of company power equipment through initial planning, CAD design, and fabrication of construction of all Mesa units. Must be able to manage the recording/cataloging of CAD documentation under the direction of engineering staff. The CAD Technician/Drafter is expected to work independently with direction from senior engineering supervisors. The CAD Technician/Drafter will work as an integrated member of multiple project teams and will be required to collaborate with colleagues on a variety of CAD-related project tasks.
Essential Duties:
- Produce technical drawings, via SolidWorks, for prototype (concept) approval, existing unit modifications, and technical documentation.
- Creates modeling and manufacturing CAD files to support full commercialization (production) of Mesa units.
- Creates CAD drawings and files for fabrication by 3rd party companies.
- Manage SolidWorks vault files to ensure 100% accurate unit Bill of Materials (BOM) management.
- Responsible for maintaining SolidWorks PDM.
- Support company technical documentation efforts through production of 2D CAD illustrations of company units
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education:
Required:
- Associate Degree or 30hrs of related college coursework with CAD software
- Technical training on CAD software.
Preferred:
- Vocational/Technical schooling in CAD.
Experience:
Required:
- 1-2 years of experience in a drafting/engineering or related field.
- Demonstrated experience using SolidWorks.
Preferred:
- 2-3 years of experience in a drafting/engineering or other related field.
- Experience with creating electrical schematics.
- Honorably discharged service veterans preferred.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects in a timely manner with accurate results.
- Excellent communication skills; listening, comprehension, and feedback.
- Outstanding user fluency and skill within SolidWorks CAD program.
- Demonstrates team player attitude, but able to work independently to ensure tasks completion.
- Ability to work in high pressure situations, with frequent interruptions, while handling conflict in effective manner.
- Ability and willingness to learn new processes and business functions to facilitate the company mission.
- Displays adaptability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Possess positive and energetic self-starter attitude, with excellent drive, ambition, and work ethic.
- Ability to envision and communicate 3D concepts clearly and effectively.
- Knowledge and experience creating electrical schematics or diagrams, preferred.
