1 Assistant Coach-Baseball
Responsibilities:
Preforms planning and delivery of daily practices, which will include sports specific fundamentals and techniques, formation
and strategies, positioning, rules conditioning and safety.
Stays current with changes and trends in their sport through college courses, participation in clinics and professional
interaction with fellow coaches.
Responsible for all paperwork, which includes completing and submitting all local, district, and state requests for
information, in accordance with established timelines and procedures.
Provides supervision of all team members beginning with their arrival in the locker room prior to the start of practices or
games, and ending when the last student athlete has met with transportation home.
Enforce compliance with all rules in both the student athlete and state handbook. They are also responsible for establishing
and maintaining specific team rules and taking appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
Provides continuous promotion and publicity of their sport by working with the media and parents and by their involvement
in school-sponsored events such as culture week, academic award events, homecoming activities, etc…
Emphasizes student athlete welfare, including the area of drug and alcohol use, sportsmanship, and hazing, academic
eligibility and concussion protocol.
Interact positively with coached of other sports here at MAS and work to promote the best interests of all student athletes at
all times.
Maintain all applicable safety standards with regard to student athletes, fields, facilities, equipment, and training as a matter
of routine, and to conform with athletic department general injury/training procedures and emergency medical procedures, as
well as state laws governing the care of student athletes with concessions.
Meet with parents during the preseason.
Responsible for personal conduct and player conduct during all practices and games.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required.
Valid New Mexico driver’s license and ability to drive MAS vehicles.
Valid NMAA and NMPED License required.
At least 1 years coaching experience.
Must be able to be present and punctual for all practices and games.
Must have reliable transportation.
Ability to follow directions.
Ability to provide clear instruction to students when required.
Ability to work independently, interact positively, and communicate with students, other coaches and parents.
Knowledgeable of the Mescalero Apache people and their culture.
Must be able to follow all school policies and procedures.
Within the scope of Indian preference, all candidates will receive consideration without regard to race, color, sex, national

ALL positions require background checks and clearance from any criminal charges prior to employment. NOTE: any
felonious or any of two (2) or more misdemeanor convictions will disqualify applicant from employment.
All positions require initial drug testing upon hire, then random monthly drug testing.
