What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flatbed Printer Operator for Custom Sign Shop position at Messenger Corporation?

We are currently meeting with qualified candidates to find a high-performance, hands-on, experienced, Flatbed Printer Operator to help Messenger build high-quality products for our clients. As a Flatbed Printer Operator, you will be responsible for all aspects of physical production and the printing on substrates like foam board, MaxMetal, or PVC. You will be responsible for printing paper and vinyl products using multiple types of printers and digital cutters, laminating, cutting vinyl, applying and weeding vinyl, canvas wraps and more. PrePress or graphic design knowledge is helpful. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team player who works well with their hands in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and who is determined to make every project their absolute best.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Reads job specifications to understand scope of project; asks for clarification when needed.
• Performs quality assurance measures pre- and post-production.
• Preflight print / cut vinyl jobs – Knowledge of file formats, profiles and troubleshooting color issues.
• Prepares substrates for application, which may include loading and unloading printers, cutters, laminating, mounting, etc.
• Weeds excess vinyl from cut images; assembles canvas wrap projects, etc.
• Reports inventory levels and stock to be reordered to the purchasing manager.
• Helps unload raw materials and continuously maintains neat and clean work area.
• Works on different projects simultaneously.
• Maintains equipment with utmost care and performs routine machine maintenance and minor repairs when necessary.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with other teammates using courteous and professional manner.
• Actively seeks to continuously learn and grow skills through research, periodicals, YouTube videos, networking, etc.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
• At least one (1) year recent experience working in a sign shop, wide format printer, or other digital printing environment.
• Ability to proficiently operate a flatbed printer using rigid substrates.
• Ability to problem solve and curious about new techniques.
• Proficient with navigating Windows PC, Onyx RIP, Adobe products.
• Basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers and fractions and converting fractions to decimals and vice versa).
• Able to work well under pressure to output high-volume, high-quality work.
• Able to stand for long periods of time.
• Able to lift 50 or more pounds.
• Must have the flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use back forth hand motions to apply vinyl letters and graphics to a substrate.
• Able to use light power equipment and tools.
• Works well with a team in a collaborative environment and is equally strong working independently with minimal supervision.
• Able to multi-task and have excellent time management.
• Be able to communicate effectively with the Designers, Installers, and Management to ensure every project results in the utmost quality and a high level of Client satisfaction.
• Be able to shift gears with little notice based on changing Client requirements.
• Can strongly and effectively communicate with internal clients from both a design and build perspective.
