In this role you will plan and conduct group and individual activities based on preferences of neighborhood residents.
What do I need as an Activities Leader with Messiah Lifeways?
- Two (2) years of experience working directly with long-term care residents and/or residents with dementia preferred.
- High school diploma required; State approved activity certification preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment and communication devices.
- Ability to plan, coordinate and conduct programs
What will I do as an Activities Leader with Messiah Lifeways?
- Coordinates and conducts life activities, focusing on meaningful; resident-preferred activities
- Plans organize, and leads the group and individualized age-appropriate programs, providing activities for residents who stay in their room and/or residents who are at a lower functional level, meeting Federal and State regulations.
- Attend and participate in the monthly resident council meeting.
- Plans intergenerational programs in conjunction with the U-GRO leaders.
- Motivates and assists residents to become part of neighborhood life if they choose so.
- Plans for and accompanies residents on trips outside of Messiah Lifeways and works cooperatively with the Transportation Coordinator to make transportation arrangements.
- Assists in the dining room and provides opportunities for socialization.
- Transports and/or assists residents to and from programs.
- Aware of the safety of residents and medical restrictions during all activities.
