The Display & Options in Facebook Reality Labs is looking for Product Tech Leads. Product Tech Leads are responsible for delivering the display and optics components designs for a product, from design to production ramp up. Product Tech Leads are responsible for the technical decisions affecting the display and optics components in the product, and work with a range of cross-functional teams such as Program Managers, Product Managers, Product Architects and the managers and technology leads in technology functional areas such as optical design, light source design, optical combiner design, eye tracking, quality, and reliability. We are looking for individuals who have experience directing in-house teams and external vendors, working with the product teams to understand and define requirements, who have the breadth of knowledge to drive and supervise the technical choices and direction of all the phases of the design process.

Product, Tech Lead Responsibilities:
- Manage the trade-offs necessary and drive cross-functional engagement, both internal and external, to deliver world-class consumer products
- Communicate product requirements across multiple technology teams, and represent the teams to cross-functional partners across the organization
- Coordinate optimization of system performance between sub-systems on design and performance
- Communicate progress, challenges and orchestrate trade-off analysis when required to overcome issues
- Drive cross-functional efforts to define optical & display sub-system requirements with the product team. This will include hardware (optics, electronics, mechanics, silicon, sensor, data-communication), software (computer vision algorithms, calibration, modeling, analysis), and performance analysis
- Drive optical system requirements definitions. Flow down optical system requirements to sub-system and component level. Resolve requirements discrepancies at different levels
- Drive design verification, testing, and troubleshooting process to correlate with optical modeling and metrology, and between sub-system performance and system performance
- Support TPMs in evaluation, validation, and delivery to specs by metrology, user studies, safety studies, FMEA analysis, environmental analysis, and dogfooding
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- 5 years of experience in developing optical systems with multi-function/multi-disciplinary threads
- 5 years’ experience and knowledge of optics in one or more of the following: systems design and integration: imaging, illumination, radiometry and photometry, physical and geometric optics, statistics, and polarization
- Experience in optical and sensor system design maturation, including requirement development from physical based modeling, and knowledge of fabrication/vendor processes
- Proven experience in cross-functional and Executive communications and presentations
- Experience in vendor management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters or PhD in the field of Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related degree
- 10 years of experience in research or advanced optics development
- Experience with multiple full life-cycle product launches
- Experience with image relate methods, algorithms, devices and systems
- Experience with design/manufacturing of small form-factor display or imaging systems
- Process development experience for optical parts, display, computer vision, software and hardware integration
- Experience developing manufacturing process(es) for optics and displays
- Experience in opto-mechanical integration and system design
- Experience with HMD (Head Mounted Displays)
- Experience in managing the trade-offs necessary to deliver consumer products, with a significant display/optics component
