Job Summary:
We are a hospital-based medical team, seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Consultant to help us in-office. We have an external billing company but need someone to come to Cedar Knolls to help with claims cleanup, occasional bank deposits, responding to 3rd party correspondences and patients and submitting unpaid claims to our collection agency.
Responsibilities:
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims
- Help troubleshoot with 3rd parties
- Respond to billing inquiries from patients and insurance companies.
- Collaborate with the medical coding team to ensure accurate coding practices
- Occasional Bank Deposits
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in Medical Billing is preferred
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Knowledge of medical billing processes, coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10), and medical terminology
- Proficiency with medical billing software applications - we use Nextgen
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
