Inventory Control Supervisor

Summary
The Inventory Control Supervisor directly and through subordinates monitors and maintains optimum levels of inventory and required materials needed to support manufacturing ad shipping activities. This position also ensures a high standard of inventory accuracy by assigning daily, weekly, and monthly cycle-counting tasks, by providing employee coaching on standard inventory practices, and by effectively conducting inter-departmental communications. Supports and is responsive to employees and leadership in cross-functional departments, including: manufacturing floor, shipping/receiving, customer service, engineering, purchasing and sales.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, schedule, delegate, and directly supervise inventory control/material handling teams across three shifts and the receiving team functions to maintain optimum levels of inventory and required materials needed to support manufacturing and shipping activities.
  • Control stock levels of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods to minimize total inventory levels while still meeting orders, production schedules, forecasts and shareholder/customer delivery requirements.
  • Maintain an accurate perpetual inventory system.
  • Perform cycle counts on schedule to verify actual against recorded inventory levels, making adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure accurate end-of-the-month inventory reporting.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing and sales areas the timely movement of materials, material identification, shop order processing, and ensure optimum inventory levels.
  • Assist warehousing with maintaining inventory levels that optimize storage space.
  • Direct the completion, organizing, and maintenance of all required paperwork, reports, records, documentation, etc.
  • Participate on cross functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing problems, and ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of productivity, methods, processes, and quality.
  • Complete special projects as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, housekeeping, and work rules and regulations.

Supervisor Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; approving time off and work hours; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Requires two years of college and two to three years of related experience; or seven to eight years of progressively responsible related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years experience in a management or supervisory position.
  • 1 year(s) experience in using and operating a forklift or similar stocking-related equipment is a must.
  • 1 years’ experience working with an ERP System. Experience with the “SAGE” ERP or Epicor platform a plus.
  • Strong computing skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work independently, effectively time-managing and prioritizing one’s own workload.
  • High attention to detail and a consistent history of accuracy in completed work.
  • Proficient with interpersonal communication, both in written and verbal forms.
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade, motivate, or influence others to change behaviors.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and employees of the organization.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Experience in training, coaching, or otherwise influencing the behavior of others, with or without a formal leadership title or experience.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50-pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
