WAREHOUSE LOADER & GOOSENECK DRIVER

Summary:

This is a unique and great opportunity to join the Metal Sales team as a permanent full-time member in our Anchorage Alaska plant.  This position primarily focuses on loading product and other warehouse responsibilities.  When needed, this role will also deliver product to customer sites by safely driving a Ford F-350 Gooseneck.

Regular hours for this position are Monday thru Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm.  Overtime including weekends may be required. Overnight travel may be required for some delivery routes.

In this role, you are the last person to touch product before it gets to our customers.  Each product load has a direct reflection on Metal Sales and thus accuracy and care must occur with every product load.

You’ll be responsible for (but not limited to):

• Safely operating a forklift to load Metal Sales multi-stop trucks and Customer will call trucks as they come in.
• Ensuring product is damage free and piece counts match order.
• Visually inspecting trailer before loading and reporting anything unusual.
• Delivering customer orders as needed utilizing bill of ladings, load sheets, AOBRD.
• Assisting in unloading & loading of common carrier trucks as needed.
• Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment and assisting in other departments as needed.

The most qualified candidates will have:

• Ability to meet DOT requirements for non-CDL driving
• Good driving record
• Ability to safely operate a forklift
• Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing environment
• Basic math skills, including ability to read a tape measure
• Ability to work independently and with others
• High school diploma or GED

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Must be able to read, hear, talk, drive lift trucks, wear PPE, and lift up to 75 lbs. repetitively
• Must be able to stand, walk, and/or sit approximately 7 ½ hours minimum per work shift
• Must be able to tolerate extreme temperature changes in the winter and summer months
• Noise level is moderate to loud
