Receiving Clerk
Metals USA has an immediate opening for a Receiving Clerk in the Muskogee, OK facility. The Receiving Clerk is responsible for accepting, inspecting, stocking, and transferring deliveries. Daily activities include signing for deliveries, checking delivery content against the shipping invoice, address and resolve any problems with shipments, stocking or transferring deliveries accordingly, and working with both customers and vendors to address any shipping and delivery issues.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Accepts and signs for deliveries from the distributor.
- Assists in unloading shipments from delivery truck while using a hand truck, dolly or forklift as needed. Transfers the shipped product from the loading dock to a centralized inspection area.
- Inspects the deliveries for content and matches the shipping statement with the location's purchase order/receipt.
- Informs department manager of any defective or incorrect items in the shipment.
- Processes returns for any defective or incorrect items. Contacts the vendor and/or distributor to resolve any shipment discrepancies.
- Stores, stocks and restocks items on the properly marked shelves, racks or bins.
- Reviews finished goods to ensure that they are tagged and properly prepared for storage.
- Reviews all shipping documents associated with each delivery including bill of lading; prints tags to identify material.
- Verifies that all shipments are accurate and not damaged prior to departure from the facility
- Contacts distributor/vendor to inquire about shipment delays or problems. Reports any unresolved shipping delays or problems to the department manager and/or purchasing manager.
- Stores materials and supplies within the warehouse according to company procedures
- Manages finished goods inventory per company policies.
- Assists with the reconciliation of invoices upon receipt of delivery. Maintains all records of received shipments.
- Conducts inventory of products and logs data into the inventory control database.
- Forwards documentation in a neat and orderly manner to the appropriate department manager (ie: production manager or purchasing manager).
- Reports receiving details to the appropriate department on a regular and timely basis
- Fills out production paperwork, follows shop system data collection procedures and follows inspection procedures on a daily basis.
- Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a receiving clerk effectively.
- Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
