What are the responsibilities and job description for the People Operations Specialist position at MetaMap?

We’re living at the dawn of a borderless world, but most people still don't have the tools needed to engage in critical high-trust services including everything from access to financial services, to sharing assets in peer-to-peer marketplaces, and even managing talent. At MetaMap, our work is centered on addressing this gap by building an identity data protocol that surfaces merits in the form of legal, financial, and work data. We’re energized by the unlimited potential that comes from this collective coordination, the removal of barriers to access, and the future we’re building towards — one that is interconnected and equitable. If you believe in our mission to help unlock borderless growth too, come join the MetaMap team!

About the role

MetaMap's People Operations team manages all of the operational aspects of the employee lifecycle. Our solution-oriented team is dedicated to continuous process improvement and enabling change to provide our MetaMap teammates with the best-fit employee resources, tools, and programs for a globally distributed workforce that loves data and values efficiency. As a People Operations Specialist, you will report to the Head of People Operations. This role is defined in three primary parts: documentation, implementation, and process improvement that shape the employee lifecycle and support MetaMap’s culture. You will work closely with other Operations teammates (Legal, HR, Talent, etc.) and our business units to ensure MetaMap builds and maintains a smooth, effective, and holistic employee experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and reinforce compliant, scalable, and efficient employee processes and resources

    • Ensure the delivery of critical people operations processes, e.g., onboarding, off boarding, and job information changes, including compensation, promotions, and transfers

  • Maximize the overall impact of company tools and systems

    • Support or lead people tools selection and implementation taking into consideration system integrations, global fit, workflow automation, and self-service resources

    • Participate in system testing tied to the new program, system, or process rollouts.

    • Manage relationships and contracts with crucial People Operations vendors and service providers

  • Streamline the onboarding and off boarding processes with a focus on (1) data collection and integrity i.e., accuracy, completeness, (2) process creation and documentation, and (3) providing insights/value back to the business

  • Design and deliver regular orientation sessions for new hires, including training on MetaMap’s technologies and tools, policies, and procedures

  • Partner closely with other Operations functions and People Partners (HRBPs)

  • Support employee data reporting, audits, and data integrity initiatives

Skills & Experience

  • 5 years of HR/People experience, at least 3 in HR/People Ops

  • Experience as an admin within People tools, e.g., HRIS, Performance Management, L&D, ATS, etc.

  • You are a creative, curious, flexible, proactive, and thoughtful teammate. You enjoy bringing order to chaos and clarity where there is ambiguity.

  • You have experience independently managing multiple priorities in a dynamic and occasionally ambiguous environment — we’re a startup, so we’re actively building infrastructure and working to bridge gaps.

  • You can remain objective in conflict resolution and seek solutions. You are eager to influence through productive partnerships.

  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills; process-oriented, with meticulous attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills when interacting with teammates at different levels within the company.

  • Experience implementing and promoting process improvements with changes rooted in data analysis

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent objectives, making judgments as to prioritization and time allocation

As a proud equal opportunity employer, we live by these same values, celebrate diversity, and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all of our employees. We are also committed to a fair and inclusive interview experience, including providing reasonable accommodations to disabled applicants throughout the recruitment process.
