POSITION SUMMARY

This is an advanced-level engineering role, responsible to ensure stability, integrity, and efficient operations of the Engineering systems that drive core functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all activities connected to Project Management, Business Development, and Mentoring. This elevated engineering position requires visible support for a corporate culture of ownership and accountability to produce forward thinking behaviors that reduce risks, increase efficiencies and achieve business growth. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Project Management Role:

This position owns all aspects of a project’s finances, technical execution, scheduling, and communication (internal and external) and ensures that projects progress in accordance with pre-established timelines, scope, and budgets. As highly experienced engineers, PE IIs routinely manage the more complex and challenging projects. 

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Respond to incoming proposals by researching and developing quotations.
  • Work with internal and external clients to establish mutual expectations regarding a program’s cost, technical scope, schedule milestones and communication plan.
  • Develop and provide internal communications supporting program goals.
  • Advocate on behalf of our clients. Gain insights that evolve our services to meet their growing needs.
  • Evaluate risk mitigation opportunities and develop contingency plans for events that can negatively impact services to clients. 
  • Compile data and test results into formal reports while analyzing data for accuracy and continuity.
  • Own project financial matters by reviewing contracts, setting program budgets, processing all invoicing activities and produce periodic fiscal summaries and status updates. 
  • Oversee project closure process by ensuring all data has been formally reported and delivered, material has been shipped, and invoices processed. Completes post program review looking for improvement opportunities.
  • Owns and drives process improvement tasks designed to broaden and elevate the value of our services.

Business Development Role:

  • Interact with customers and engineers on pre-sale activities.
  • Understand customer needs by leading technical deep dive conversations designed to cultivate and strengthen business relationships.
  •  Assist in the creation of marketing collateral designed to promote awareness for our service offerings.
  • Create and deliver presentations, white-papers, demonstrations and proposals to industry forums and\or prospective clients.
  • Organize customer visits and attend industry events (Expos, Conferences, etc.). Maintain active participation and membership in networking organizations.
  • Cultivate relationships with multiple buying influences in the customer’s organization including, materials and process engineers, program managers, and buyers.
  • Stay current with client needs, competition and industry trends.
  • Support and implement strategic sales and marketing initiatives resulting in the develop new business opportunities.

Mentoring Role:

Required to assist junior engineers in the long-term development of skills and knowledge to enhance professional and personal growth.  

  • Support colleagues by being a facilitator, listener and coalition builder.
  • Encourage personal and professional development.
  • Use past experiences and leadership training to provide team members with problem solving strategies and administrative techniques that are positive and outcome based.

EUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • 5 - 7years of experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to relate to topics which require acute understanding or specialized knowledge.
  • Ability to pay meticulous attention to all aspects of a situation or task.
  • Standing to sitting ratio is 80/20, respectively.

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. We will require proof of status prior to employment.
