Description

Metric5 is currently seeking a Scrum Master for a SAS Infrastructure/O&M team, you will work within a team providing Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence services to our government customer using Agile processes. You will support the delivery of SAS software solutions, the administration of SAS platforms, including client and web-based data management and visualization tools, the development of custom applications, and O&M for our large infrastructure footprint. You will manage cross-functional collaboration with Product Owners, functional and business stakeholders, application teams, technical SMEs, and management to drive the development and release of high quality, high value SAS software products/solutions within an Agile environment.

Program Details

The program you will be supporting has a mission to provide development, security, and operations (DevSecOps) support to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) with a focus on development, operations, and modernization of the Agency’s Enterprise Data Warehouse/Data Lake. The team utilizes open-source, AWS Cloud, and Big Data technologies, agile project management practices, and modern DevSecOps delivery to provide the business intelligence support systems to meet the reporting, data analytics, and machine learning/artificial intelligence needs critical to USCIS leadership, data/business analysts, data scientists, and other decision-makers.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Owners (PO), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Developers, and Engineers to understand the customer and program needs and translate that into the product backlog and assist with regularly scheduled grooming sessions
  • Develop, document, and manage the implementation of project plans, processes, and communication standards for SAS solutions and products and O&M activities in consultation with stakeholders and project team members
  • Contribute to project scoping, including requirements assessment, best practices, design and development
  • Oversee product releases by coordinating Infrastructure/Engineering, Software Development, Security, Release Management, Technical Communications, and Knowledge Management teams
  • Monitor and track the progress of the projects against the plan from initiation through delivery
  • Elicit customer requirements using techniques such as interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis
  • Facilitate decision-making, root cause analysis, post-mortems and technical requirement discussions and meetings, encourage collaboration and brainstorming among all developers/engineers, and document outcomes / decisions relevant to development/O&M
  • Proactively manage changes in project and product scope Identify potential risks and devise risk response plans.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of SAS products supported by the customer
  • Define detailed stories with applicable acceptance criteria in collaboration with the Product Owners and technology team
  • Ensure that the team understands requirements, deliverables, timelines, priorities, and issues to successfully meet customer goals
  • Facilitate deployment planning and Agile ceremonies such as daily sprint stand-ups, grooming, planning, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Work with operations team to debug / troubleshoot critical production issues.
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement by helping the team identify areas that can be improved and helping the team commit to and deliver improvements in those processes
  • Participate in meetings, provide briefings, status presentations and other support materials that will promote the program, assist in achieving user buy-in, and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Required Skills

  • 3 years of agile experience
  • Understanding of Infrastructure O&M/DevOps environments and concepts, including system upgrades/administration, database management, security vulnerabilities remediation, and patching
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of software development processes and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, including executives, managers, and Architect/Infrastructure/Engineering SMEs teams to assess and size stories/epics
  • Experience with Big Data, BI, and reporting tools – SAS/SAS VIYA, SAS EG, SAS VA, Tableau, or Databricks experience desired
  • Experience working in an environment with one or more relational database systems (e.g., Oracle, Postgres) preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, be highly organized with experience managing project schedules
  • Strong teamwork, co-ordination, planning and influencing skills
  • Self-driven with the ability to adapt quickly, work in a challenging and fast paced environment within cross-functional teams, and to promote creative problem solving
  • Knowledge of the Agile, including Scrum and Kanban, and management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience with engineering/DevOps tools (i.e. Jenkins) desired
  • Experience working in AWS Cloud environment desired
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • PMP, SAFe SM and/or CSM preferred but not required

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred – Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, and work experience.

Location: Reston, VA – Currently fully remote due to COVID-19.

Clearance: Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a government agency Suitability Clearance. USCIS Entry on Duty (EOD) preferred.
