Overview

Required Skills and Experience:

• Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program.
• Current license/permit as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas.
• 1 year of Med/Surg or LTAC experience.
• Current BLS-HP certification.
• IV Therapy Certification.

• Full Time 2 Day LVN positions
• 4:3 rotating schedule.

Job Selling Points:

• Versatile role with responsibilities in Clinic, in-patient, med pass, out-patient, wound care, cell side care, ER, and critical care settings.

Responsibilities:

• Administer prescribed medication and interpret physicians’ orders.
• Provide nursing services, treatments, and diagnostic and preventive procedures appropriate for inmate care and safety.
• Assist physicians with sick calls and apply surgical dressings and bandages.
• Provide emergency first aid care and check/record vital signs.
• Observe and report reactions to treatments and medications, as well as changes in inmates’ emotional or physical conditions.
• Instruct inmates on discharge planning.
• Supervise correctional staff regarding inmate health care.
• Consult with supervisors on complex cases.
• Check and order supplies.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Provide health care education to inmates.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
• Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS).

Preferred:

• IV Therapy Certification.
• Current vaccinations: Covid-19, Varicella, MMR, T-Dap, TB, HepB, Current Physical, Flu.

Candidate Details: Candidates must be graduates from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program with a valid license/permit to practice in the State of Texas. A minimum of 1 year of experience in Med/Surg or LTAC is required, along with a current BLS-HP certification and IV Therapy Certification. Ideal candidates will have up-to-date vaccinations, including Covid-19, Varicella, MMR, T-Dap, TB, HepB, a current physical, and Flu.
