Position Overview
Boston magazine, one of America’s most honored and respected city magazines, is seeking a Food Editor to oversee food and dining coverage in print, online, and at events. The ideal candidate has an outstanding ability to generate story ideas, knows how to write copy that leaps off the page and screen, has exquisite taste, and possesses a strong aesthetic sense. In addition, this candidate should have experience managing a small team, knowledge of how to engage readers, a love for discussing the latest restaurant and food trends, and have an interest in networking with the city’s foodie and restaurant community.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of four years of experience at a magazine or food-oriented website.
  • Knowledge of SEO strategy, Wordpress, and Google Analytics
  • An admirable work ethic, proven time management skills, and an obsession with producing top-quality work.
  • Experience, or ability, to host food-related events
  • Team-playerness (non-negotiable)
  • Sense of humor (also non-negotiable)

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Develop ideas for, write, and oversee print and digital food coverage, ranging from restaurant openings and food guides to service packages, feature profiles, and essays.
    • Write/edit 3 digital stories per week; write/edit several pages in print each month; produce multiple service packages and feature stories each year for print.
  • Manage and produce newsletters
  • Become immersed in Boston and become an authority on food in our city. As a brand ambassador for Boston magazine, the Food Editor is expected to regularly attend evening events throughout the city and maintain close contact with local industry professionals.
  • Host signature food events as well as support special all-access member events and benefits
