Description
Summary: Under occasional supervision, coordinate air and ocean shipments, obtain documents, and coordinate CBP filing requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manages import brokerage obligations
- Ensure full compliance and timely resolution for the assignment of HTS classifications for import and export shipments on all products.
- Classifies products for tariff and duty rates
- Enters all related service charges and fees into internal systems to assure no delays in receiving cargo into warehouse facilities
- Tracks and clears air/ocean cargo through US Customs ACE entry system
- Coordinates and facilitates deliveries with contractors, shippers, clients and carriers
- Troubleshoots and resolves shipping, quality and regulatory problems
- Interfaces and assists other departments with process/compliance questions that may arise regarding import shipments
- Builds and maintains relationships with vendors, federal agencies and carriers
- Evaluates new products for possible 301-tariff constraints
- Subject matter expertise on Implementation of Customs related processes within the business
- Analyzes documentation for potential Anti-Dumping/Countervailing and quota restrictions on imported products
- Evaluates and issues free trade agreement documentation to requesting parties
- Attend related continuing educational workshops and seminars
- Collaborate with various partners (global sourcing, merchandising, design, supply chain, data integrity) on cross department activities promoting process optimization.
Qualifications
Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must be a licensed customs broker
- Ability to properly classify Uniform HTS Codes for current and new products to ensure proper customs clearance process and shipping and landing ports.
- Must have working knowledge of CBP import procedures and regulations gained from recent experiences with a freight forwarder, import/export broker, or manufacturer
- Strong understanding of C-TPAT and CFR-19 regulations
- Improve import department procedures for efficiency and processing speed
- Must have excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Must have the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must be an analytical thinker, problem solver, detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Education and or Experience
- College Degree or related experience required.
- 3+ year’s previous experience in Transportation, Logistics, or Import/Export field is beneficial.
