Medical Assistant Duties

#1 JOB DUTY-PROVIDE EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE

  • Perform medical assistant procedures under supervision of physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner
  • Assist physician, physician assistant and nurse practitioner in exam rooms
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, reconcile patient medications, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and accurately document all information in patient’s chart
  • Thoroughly and accurately obtains chief complaint and pertinent information from patient and enter it into chart.
  • Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner
  • Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
  • Prepares and processes instruments
  • Gives immunizations, performs EKGs, spirometry tests, ear lavages check patient’s blood sugars
  • Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
  • Correctly enters information in patient charts
  • Process insurance prior authorizations
  • Strive to provide positive patient experiences to every patient, every time
  • Collect patient information and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians and physician assistants
  • Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, biohazard, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
  • Assist and covers Care Team with incoming phone calls when assigned
  • Schedule patient appointments
  • All other duties as assigned by physicians or practice manager

High School diploma or equivalent required.  Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be customer service focused, and have strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Must be a team player. Minimum of 2 year previous medical office experience required. EMR (Centricity preferred) required.  Bilingual English/Spanish important.

Salary based on years of experience
