Position Information
This position is responsible for cultivating and managing corporate relationships, sponsorships, and naming rights sales for Metro Parks Tacoma and achieving revenue goals and performance targets.

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to:

  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
  • Observe applicable safety requirements, use safety equipment provided, implement appropriate safety practices at all times and report immediately any unsafe working conditions or hazards.
Develop, manage and promote corporate relations and sales program to include:
  • Inventory of all MPT sponsorable assets (physical assets, programs and events)
  • Coordination of District sponsorship asset valuation
  • Development of positive relationships with business and industry that heighten interest in their financial support of Metro Parks Tacoma
  • Corporate marketing sponsorship sales
  • Corporate matching gifts program
  • Naming rights
  • Educate and collaborate with District staff regarding sponsorship sales.                        
Manage the corporate relations budget to reach monthly, annual and long term goals.
 
Maintain correspondence to all corporate sponsors including proposals, acknowledgements, fulfillment reports and information updates on Metro Parks activities, projects and events.
 
Coordinate with the Recreation and Parks & Building Services Departments to effectively present sponsor opportunities on Metro Parks Tacoma projects, events and programs to prospective corporations, organizations and groups.
 
Collaborate with the District-wide Corporate Relations team.
 
Coordinate corporate strategy with other Resource Development activities to ensure open communication and integration of each area's programs and services.
 
Coordinate with District and Department Marketing & Communications and appropriate program staff to develop compelling sponsorship packages and ensure timely execution of sponsor acknowledgement in fulfillment of sponsor benefits.

In concert with appropriate staff, prepare or cause to be prepared all content and materials needed for approved sponsorship, naming rights and public relations programs including proposals to sponsors, recognition and acknowledgment materials, fulfillment reports, etc.
 
Stay up-to-date on current corporate relations and fundraising programs, practices and procedures being used in the nonprofit and government sectors.
 
Work with staff and volunteers to ensure that all corporate relations programs are consistent with the overall mission and goals established for each program and service.
 
Perform related duties as assigned.
 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, sales, public administration, non-profit management, marketing or related field is desired and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in corporate relations/sponsorship sales, fund development, or related field is required.  An additional four years of related experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
 
LICENSE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Washington State driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and evenings as needed.ENVIRONMENT:
Office work environment.
Working evenings, weekends, and variable hours.
Constant interruptions.
 
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information.
Seeing to read and prepare records and reports.
Walking over rough or uneven surfaces. 
Lifting up to 30 pounds. 
Standing for extended periods of time. 
 
HAZARDS:
Contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals

KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Current fund-raising and corporate relations programs, sponsorship sales, practices and procedures used by nonprofit and government organizations.
  • Basic principles and practices of fiscal, statistical and administrative research and report preparation and presentation.
  • Principles, practices and procedures of fundraising activities.
  • Modern office practices, procedures and equipment; Raiser's Edge database knowledge a plus.
                                                                                                 
ABILITY TO:
  • Comfortably solicit sponsorships and donations from corporations, organizations and groups.
  • Prepare and manage request for proposals for a variety of projects such as building naming rights.
  • Make effective presentations to potential donors.
  • Use a computer and associated software.
  • Perform a variety of specialized business and administrative support services and assistance.
  • Operate office machines including a computer and applicable database software.
  • Interpret rules and regulations.
  • Perform emergency first aid and CPR as needed and according to established guidelines.
  • Communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Assess and evaluate situations effectively.
  • Exert optimal effort in successfully completing tasks.
  • Take initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Extract and record data and carry out calculations accurately.
  • Set up and operate equipment that can require selection from options or different settings.
  • Manage time efficiently and effectively through scheduling and prioritizing.
  • Work within and contribute to the effectiveness of a team, respecting differences.
  • Report for work regularly and on time.
