What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shuttle Driver position at Metro Toyota?
REPORTS TO: Service Director/Service Lane Manager
POSITION TYPE: Full-time
POSITION SUMMARY:
Making sure that all aspects of the customer’s “first impression” are attended to. You’ll be the first person that customers see on the service drive, so let your bubbly personality shine! If you’re looking to start learning the about dealership world then this is a greater starter position to allow you to expand and explore the opportunities!
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High attention to detail
- Valid Michigan Driver’s license and an insurable driving record – Super important, since you’ll be moving a lot of cars!
- Familiarity with the Kalamazoo area
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Shuttling customers to and from the dealership
- Greeting customers with a friendly and welcoming demeanor
- Placement and removal of plastic seat covers and paper floor mats before entering, or final delivery of customer vehicle
- Performing the duties in the Daily Lobby Checklist every hour and signing off on completion
- Refreshing coffee makers, re-stocking water, washing and re-stocking coffee mugs, baking and stocking cookies – The cookies smell soooo goooood! Although this bit is on hold cause you know, COVID.
- Making sure the service drive and kitchenette areas are picked up of trash, spills, and other debris
- Purchasing supplies for the service drive and customer areas as needed
- Deliver and/or pickup parts or vehicles as needed
- Washing vehicles by bringing them through the car wash and manually scrubbing them when necessary
- Vacuuming customer’s vehicles before delivery to the customer – This is where that attention to detail comes in handy!
- Follow all required safety and hazardous materials procedures as required by dealership policies and applicable laws and regulations, including OSHA and MIOSHA
- Must maintain a professional image and positively represent Metro Toyota
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General cleanup of dealership including, but not limited to Service Drive, Customer Lounge, and Kitchenette areas – We need to be as bright and shiny as the new cars coming off the delivery truck!
- Assisting customers with miscellaneous items
- Relating positively and courteously with diverse groups of people (customers, visitors, and staff)
- All other duties as assigned – can’t forget this one!
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand for six to eight hours per shift
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and stretch – Gotta stay limber! You’ll be jumping in and out of cars a lot.
- Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds
- Ability to work in conditions such as: varying temperatures, weather elements, noise, dust, and fumes – You know, all the usual stuff involved with working around cars and the wonderful Michigan weather
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends – No Sundays!
