Metrocare is the largest provider of mental health, developmental disability and permanent supported housing services in Dallas County serving over 50,000 children, teens and adults annually. In conjunction with clinical care, Metrocare’s Altshuler Center for Education & Research is transforming the community mental health landscape of North Texas through workforce development focused on innovative partnerships and exceptional trauma-informed training.

The accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of Metrocare’s reports and statements. This position will report to the Accounting Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Perform analysis and post information to the General Ledger on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Research and reconcile any discrepancies and provide explanation for any variance.
- Review accounting records through the Trial Balance- including general ledger, general journals, cash receipts, cash disbursements and monthly financial statements.
- Prepare and distribute reports to management.
- Prepare contract billing and customer invoices.
- Monitor grant expenditures.
- Provide support for various audit activities.
- Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations relating to job duties.
- Make recommendations to implement improved processes.
- Backup other positions in Finance as needed to cover vacancies and paid time off.
- Manage contract vendors in the accounting system.
- Own the process of payroll, capital projects invoicing, and labor compliance reporting.
- Create processes to reconcile all employee benefits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Required: Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance
- Required: Minimum of 4 years of experience.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Basic math skills required.
- Ability to work with reports and numbers.
- Ability to calculate moderately complex figures and amounts to accurately report activities and budgets.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to utilize Internet for resources.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
- Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Center’s liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.
