The Re-entry Peer Support Mentor provides ongoing, individualized support services designed to help program participants persist and successfully complete education and employment goals during their transition to the community, while housed with the Mental Health Association (MHA) of Nebraska. The position works with 180 RAP, faculty members, College and MHA staff to continually assess participant progress, implement helpful interventions and track individual outcomes.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides ongoing, individualized student support services designed to help students or participants transition, persist and complete goals.
2. Assists with participants’ intake process through collaboration with 180 RAP and MHA teams.
3. Identifies individual supports necessary to achieve academic, workforce and personal goals to MHA residents in Omaha transitioning to the community after incarceration.
4. Provides resources, referrals and direct peer support to participants housed at MHA in Omaha.
5. Assists with collection of quantitative and qualitative data for grant reporting purposes.
6. Continuously provides participant support to assist with retention efforts.
7. Works collaboratively with other departments and services to understand processes, systems, and services to resolve student or participant issues.
8. Represents the department at community events as assigned.
9. Works with 180 RAP leadership, faculty, College staff and MHA stakeholders to assess student progress, implement helpful interventions and track overall program outcomes.
10. Participates in events including, but not limited to: department meetings, advisory committee meetings, re-entry fairs, completion ceremonies and student appreciation events.
11. Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.

Required Qualification
Associate’s degree with two (2) years of full-time experience supporting or coaching others, preferably inside a correctional setting and/or with individuals who have been recently released from a correctional facility.
Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
May require ability to enter a Nebraska Department Correctional Services facility.
Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Schedule: 40 hours per week; varied schedule: some days, evenings and weekends.
Location: Fort Omaha Campus (FOC)
This position is Special Funded until 06/30/2025.
