The Metro Public Health Department (MPHD) is seeking a Behavioral Health Clinician to help individuals deal with complex and comorbid diagnosis which may include serious persistent mental health illness, addictions, and substance abuse; family, parenting, marital problems, and challenges with social drivers of health; suicide; stress management; problems with self-esteem; and issues associated with aging, physical, mental, and emotional health by providing therapeutic/Counseling services.
This position will work Onsite and in the Community as directed.

- Perform face-to-face intake for consumers who have been referred to MPHD and assessed for care management, medication management or therapy eligibility.
- Complete all intake evaluation paperwork including initial intake, and grief assessment.
- Determine an individual’s appropriateness for care management, medication management or therapy and assign as appropriate.
- Utilize evidence based therapeutic framework, to provide counseling for consumers and patients, individually and group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life and making changes.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
- Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed to comply with changes in consumer’s status.
- Maintaining knowledge base by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, establishing, and maintaining contact with other clinicians.
- Provide clinical counseling services to family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting consumers.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling services and consumer progress in resolving problems and moving towards specific objectives.
- Refer patients, consumers, or family members to case managers or to other specialists.
- Counsel families, clinic providers, care managers and other interested parties during the treatment process.
- Collaborate with staff members and primary care practice partners and referral sources to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
- Valid class “D” driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.

- 3 Years experience with counseling, therapeutic using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Based CBT, Solution Focus Therapy, Attachment Therapy or any other evidence based therapeutic model.
- Master’s degree and or Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Psychology, Clinical Social Work, or a related field.
- Licensed or License-eligible (within 6 months) with either with LPC/MHSP, LCSW or LMFT in the state of TN.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
