Job Posting for Behavioral Health Clinician/ Clinical Counselor (Public Health Administrator 2) (Onsite) at Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County
The Metro Public Health Department (MPHD) is seeking a Behavioral Health Clinician to help individuals deal with complex and comorbid diagnosis which may include serious persistent mental health illness, addictions, and substance abuse; family, parenting, marital problems, and challenges with social drivers of health; suicide; stress management; problems with self-esteem; and issues associated with aging, physical, mental, and emotional health by providing therapeutic/Counseling services.

Perform face-to-face intake for consumers who have been referred to MPHD and assessed for care management, medication management or therapy eligibility.
Complete all intake evaluation paperwork including initial intake, and grief assessment.
Determine an individual’s appropriateness for care management, medication management or therapy and assign as appropriate.
Utilize evidence based therapeutic framework, to provide counseling for consumers and patients, individually and group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life and making changes.
Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed to comply with changes in consumer’s status.
Maintaining knowledge base by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, establishing, and maintaining contact with other clinicians.
Provide clinical counseling services to family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting consumers.
Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling services and consumer progress in resolving problems and moving towards specific objectives.
Refer patients, consumers, or family members to case managers or to other specialists.
Counsel families, clinic providers, care managers and other interested parties during the treatment process.
Collaborate with staff members and primary care practice partners and referral sources to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
Graduation from an accredited (4) four-year college or university and three (3) years of responsible, full-time employment in public health administration, public health sanitation, public health nursing, public health education, business administration or other appropriate field OR Graduation from an accredited Master's degree program in the public health or administrative field.
Valid class “D” driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.

3 Years experience with counseling, therapeutic using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Based CBT, Solution Focus Therapy, Attachment Therapy or any other evidence based therapeutic model.
Master’s degree and or Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Psychology, Clinical Social Work, or a related field.
Licensed or License-eligible (within 6 months) with either with LPC/MHSP, LCSW or LMFT in the state of TN.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
