The Services Application Specialist is located with Metro Social Services and performs administrative and support duties involved in assisting individuals and families with completing any applications necessary to assist in their social service’s needs (food, housing, clothing, finances). This position will also assist the customer in achieving economic stability, along with assisting their case management plan.
Metropolitan Social Services is in the business of helping Nashvillians who are experiencing hardship. Services include counseling, information and referral, case management and other assistance. - Obtain and maintain a real time catalog of the applications for services/housing.
- Develop and maintain a professional linking relationship for direct contacts and to follow-up on processing application(s).
- Interview and assist customers with completing application(s) and with obtaining necessary documents to apply for services.
- Complete applications for customers who have barriers and need assistance to complete application(s).
- Follow-up on the application process until final decision determined.
- Work as a triage with assigned Social Worker on case management.
- Utilize various computer applications, databases and navigate internet.
- Front-desk responsibilities including greeting customers and handling multi-phone line.
- Work Social Services shelter(s) during months of operation.
- May make home or community visits with Social Workers.
- May assist with meals on wheels delivery to homes and in community centers.
- Learn and stay abreast of changing eligibility guidelines, changes in documents, and expectations for agency services and the application process.

- Experience working with a diverse customer population
- Knowledge of social services resources in and around Davidson County
- Strong organizational skills for managing multiple applications
