Manager Vendor Payment

Description

• Manage the vendor payment unit in the Administration and Budget division.
• Oversee and direct all payment activities in the disbursement and invoice processing sections.
• Address high-volume processing of various medical and legal invoices, including working directly with various divisions and levels of management.
• Oversee the processing of high volume, large dollar value cases for settlement, ensuring all legally mandated guidelines are met prior to settlement.
• Manage and direct timely processing of all items to avoid costly penalties.
• Plan, direct, and evaluate the activities of subordinates in carrying out their responsibilities.
• Provide guidance, technical assistance, and training on a regular basis.
• Select, develop and motivate personnel within the department. Provide career development for subordinates. Provide prompt and effective coaching and counseling. Responsible for discipline/termination of employees when necessary. Review performance of staff.

• Experience in high volume claims processing operations.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with key internal and/or external stakeholders.
• Must have strong managerial skills to effectively direct a staff of professional and technical employees in implementing the short- and long-term goals and direction for the area of responsibility.
• Demonstrated analytical capabilities and quantitative skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable applications, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Knowledge of NYS Unified Court System, Origami and the BSC Vendor Management Portal
• Familiarity with the MTA’s policies and procedures.
• Familiarity with the MTA’s collective bargaining procedures.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum 3 years related experience, including at least 2 years in a Managerial and/or Supervisory role.
