Metz Culinary Management is growing and we have an opening for an experienced Rock Star Catering Manager (preferably in a Higher Education or similar Contract Dining setting) who shares our passion for Food and Service.
To be successful in this role, you should have a personable, polished and professional demeanor, a passion for customer service, as well as good office and computer skills. Catering experience is Necessary. Effectively communicating with all guests and staff in a friendly, courteous and timely manner is essential.
Job Description:
Responsible for coordinating events and supervising the catering staff in the preparation, assembly and setup of catering functions. Lead the catering staff through all phases of events. A successful candidate will be comfortable with catering staff supervision, which involves the preparation, assembly and setup of all catering functions. Work schedule must be flexible. The ability to work in a fast paced environment, excellent verbal and written communication skills, organization and punctuality are needed attributes.
· Assist with efficient operation of the department.
· Computer Skills needed to complete many of these tasks, CaterTrax platform, Microsoft Office suite for floor plan, diagrams, etc.
· Operate and maintain equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
· Maintain department areas in a neat and sanitary manner.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Work events as needed as supervisor of catering staff
· Assist in ordering and planning to production of all catering events for all 3 campus locations of UD Mercy, Main Campus, Law and Dental
· Assist in communicating all orders weekly to the kitchen team for production in any location
· Attend weekly event meetings with Client as needed
· Assist in completing weekly productions diagrams and pull sheets and design catering plan including floor plans, and equipment/supply rentals if needed in coordination with each client.
· Training and interim (short notice) scheduling of catering staff via contact list
· Maintain quality service and quality food presented during service
· Organize and coordinate event timeline, ensuring that the service runs smoothly and efficiently
· Must have reliable transportation from locations of each campus.
· Maintaining inventory of food service and office supplies.
Essential Physical-Mental Functions and Environmental Conditions
- Frequently exposed to moving objects, potential burns, minor skin cuts, and loud noises.
- Able to see objects closely, discriminate colors, perceive depth continuously.
- Able to hear normal sounds with some background noise and distinguish sounds continuously.
- Able to read, write, use simple math, follow and give oral and written instructions.
- Able to properly lift objects weighing 20 lbs. or less continuously; 35 lbs. or less frequently; 50 lbs. or more occasionally. The highest point of any lift - overhead; the lowest point of any lift -the floor.
- Able to carry objects 20 lbs. or less frequently; 35 lbs. or less occasionally; 50 lbs. or less rarely.
- Able to push/pull objects with moderate effort frequently. Maximum effort occasionally.
· Able to sit and/or stand 4 hours continuously, up to 8 hours per day. Able to remain on feet for entire shift.
