Position Summary:
The Director, Global IT Infrastructure reports to the Vice President, Global Operations and Service and is responsible for the strategy, planning, design, engineering, compliance and operational management of all aspects of IT infrastructure. This role has overall responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of all IT infrastructure used to support business process and services across an FDA regulated enterprise.
Essential Functions:
1. Manage infrastructure and service delivery systems, teams, and activities in a global, 24x7 environment.
2. Provide senior level technical expertise and leadership in the areas of IT architecture, design, support and service delivery.
3. Analyze IT infrastructure needs; lead design and implementation of new system architectures.
4. Lead infrastructure-related change management initiatives; ensure use of industry best practices and compliance with all related and appropriate entities.
5. Works with the IT team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources, including budget.
6. Measures and optimizes application and infrastructure performance.
7. Evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies to meet business requirements.
8. Responsible for continuous availability of global infrastructure, key applications and core services (including end-user support).
9. Provide senior level expertise and leadership around controlling changes to regulated vs. non-regulated computer systems.
10. Responsible for company implementation and adherence to FDA regulations and guidelines for validated computer systems.
Education, Training, and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field and/or equivalent education, experience, and training.
2. Minimum 7-10 years of progressive hands-on technical experience in IT infrastructure – architecture, systems administration, routing / switching, network design, database systems, virtualization, storage area networks, etc.
3. Minimum 5 years experience leading an IT team.
4. Proven ability to negotiate and work with vendors and consultants.
5. Expert level knowledge and understanding of enterprise technology components with a global scope, particularly in China.
6. Expert knowledge of: PC and Apple hardware and environments, SalesForce, FinancialForce, SAP Concur, MS Office, SQL, Cisco Routers, Dell Switches, firewalls, Google Apps, Atlassian Suite.
Physical and Environmental Considerations:
1. Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
2. Required use of standard office equipment including laptop, phone, copier, etc.
3. Typical office environment.
4. Must be able to walk through the factory environment safely.
5. Travel Typically less than 20%. Some international travel required.
